I’m hearing that John Pavich running for the 11th CD pulled in about $90,000 for the quarter with total numbers around $250,000 raised and $200,000 on hand. That’s without much staffing–which was hired recently. Also, some larger contributions are coming in right now. Those are good numbers without a primary and he’ll need to pick it up, but this keeps him viable. His on hand is half of Renner’s total raised in 2004.
That’s the cycle total for McSweeney’s personal expenditures. That’s a lot.
Remember, the January reporting date is January 31st, not the middle of the month as in the other three quarters.
I’m blaming Hiram for the Bears loss since he mentioned contingency plans for a Bears win on Sunday for the event, but seriously, the Naperville Township Democrats are having their annual holiday party on Sunday and Markos will be a guest there. $35 is a bargain for a fundraiser/event so head on out if you are free (Jennifer’s B-day is being celebrated that day or I’d be going). If anyone is thinking of buying mine, they’re boring enough I’ll sell them to you for half-price. A bargain to find out that during big Chicago sports events I’m calling my friends drunk and otherwise calling my wife to figure out what the hell she means by “that thingy” on the shopping list.
Those who say it’s a major deterrent are kidding themselves. It might shift the production further away, but such shifts are often accompanied by lower prices as economies of scale develop.
And for more fun, the smaller doses when the pharmacies are closed–are, of course, more expensive than the larger packs. The reality is that limiting the number of packages bought in a given transaction would likely be just as effective.

Who the hell doesn’t think about these things. Even in the case where someone is acting naively–and G-Rod isn’t–there is no excuse for this sort of relationship with lobbyists in putting together proposals. You don’t go to the company, you go to Michigan or another state that has a program.

Some anonymous reviewers tend to think far more highly of their statistical prowess than they should–making it difficult to respond without having to give them a beginning graduate level of stats in a paper. ArcMap was a different matter dealing with understanding the relatively new interface that I hadn’t used until now.

First, Christine Cegelis and her campaign have handled the addition of another candidate with class. However, some of her supporters need a two-by-four across the head–no not all, not a majority, but some of the comments I’ve been seeing echo this claim by Dick Simpson:
“Emanuel just wants her to run because he can control her and use her in photo opportunities for the party.”
I would suggest that saying a woman helicopter pilot who has come back from amputations and is working on becoming flight certified again is entirely capable of making her own decisions about what she might do. Suggesting she is a tool of someone else is offensive.
There are plenty of legitimate issues such as policy positions or even residency that are reasonable critiques. Suggesting that Tammy Duckworth is a tool of Rahm Emanuel is just claptrap. If there is one thing she has earned is being taken seriously as Tammy Duckworth–just as Lindy Scott and Christine should be taken seriously as Lindy Scott and Christine Cegelis.
