Left Wing Intellectuals in Hyde Park

Watch out for those folks at Harold’s Chicken Shack—Clinton thinks it makes Barack unelectable:

Hillary’s aides point to Obama’s extremely progressive record as a community organizer, state senator and candidate for Congress, his alliances with “left-wing” intellectuals in Chicago’s Hyde Park community, and his liberal voting record on criminal defendants’ rights as subjects for examination.

So he is progressive (I forget because the argument changes every day), he is an intellectual, and he believes in the Constitution.

The horror, the horror.

  1. So Obama has a progressive record on protecting the rights of criminal defendants. Perhaps a President with that background might show the courage to say no to torture. For the Clinton people to make this type of attack sickens me. But remember in 1992 it was Bill Clinton who flew back to Arkansas to make certain that an Arkansas inmate was executed. The inmate was retarded, so retarded that he asked to save his desert from his final meal until after the execution.

The sign of class is how people behave when things are not going their way. The Clinton crew is not behaving well. In a way they are justifying the fear and concerns that many had about a Clinton candidacy.

  2. One interesting thing is the people running in Chicago for delegate for Clinton and Obama (oddly, no one in Chicago is running to be a delegate for Edwards, though Richardson has a few).

That’s the list of candidates for 2/5. Hillary’s list of delegates reeks of HDO and old-line Machine guys. Obama has a lot more progressive people running for his position.

For example, Bernie Stone is running for Delegate for Clinton. Naisy Dolar (who lost the aldermanic race running to Stone’s left) is running for Alternative Delegate for Obama.

  3. Musings and Migranes recounts Obama seeking funds and support against Alice Palmer at the home of Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers in 1995.

Considering how Ayers had to delay his memoirs publication after 911, I wouldn’t discount Clinton here when she suggests some of these old associations of Obama aren’t going to hurt him in the General.

Especially if Obama triangulates center (as he must when pushed to explain what he’s going to change) and ticks off the Dohrns and Ayers.
