”We’ve got Justice Kennedy writing decisions based upon international law, not the Constitution of the United States? That’s just outrageous,” DeLay said. ”And not only that, but he said in session that he does his own research on the Internet? That is just incredibly outrageous.”
”Has the Internet become the devil’s workshop?” said Dick Durbin of Illinois, the Senate’s No. 2 Democrat. ”Is it some infernal machine now that needs to be avoided by all right-thinking Americans? What is Mr. DeLay trying to say, as he is stretching to lash out at judges who happen to disagree with his political point of view?”
Does DeLay think that Lexis-Nexis is just another porn site?
You know what would be fun? Convincing people given to a certain theological bent that email addresses are the mark of the beast.
It just takes some time and commitment to nail down the proper scriptures and spinning them just so and I’m sure it can be done….
This support my theory of why the Democrats will be resurgent–the vast majority of Americans, especially fresh suburbanites, like Durbin-esque politicians who have the sort of dry wit and local-shopkeeper common sense about them. Education is the religion of suburbanites, and people like DeLay railing about the Internets just keeps making Republicans look like backwater idiots. They may not like ivory towers smarty-pantses of the Kerry ilk, but horse sense? They gobble that up. And so do I. Love the Durbin.
I do all of my legal research on the internet. And if it’s good enough for a 1L, it’s good enough for Justice Kennedy, right?
Its not good enough for Tom DeLay though-
for his tastes you should be Shepharizing using the books and staggering around confusedly in the library.
And in the end, in Tom DeLay’s world it is all about Tom DeLay.
Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that my little corner of the Internet is the Devil’s media room.
