I wonder if she had any of the wolves in McCain’s perverted sex commercial killed.
Ok I guess as the crazed conservative I don’t see the issue here.
If you need to do some sort of population management I think it would make sense to allow aircraft hunting in a place like Alaska.
If you think hunting is wrong then it’s wrong if it is from an aircraft or from a tree stand.
Also according to Salon only 115 or something like that were taken that way last year.
Why do I suspect the folks who put this video together are against all hunting and a person on the presidential ticket who is a real hunter (vs. the hunter BS that various candidates try and pull) is an issue for them (understandably)…
===If you need to do some sort of population management I think it would make sense to allow aircraft hunting in a place like Alaska.
The only reason for population management in this case is to ensure humans have enough caribou and moose to hunt. The ecological way of dealing with that is to not allow human hunting for populations that cannot handle the extra predation on top of natural predation.
Henry, I like you and you know that, but hunting is not the same whether from an airplane or from tree blind. That’s an utter crock of crap. Fair chase has long been the standard amongst hunters and idiots like people who shoot wolves or Dick Cheney hunting stocked birds isn’t hunting. It’s target practice and it bears no resemblance to hunting. It’s a grotesque distortion of nature for nothing more than to get one’s jollies off.
That’s fair and I wouldn’t argue it’s sporting by any stretch. However I suspect the group that is behind the ad you referenced is against hunting period.
Maintaining stocks for hunting to some extent is a legitimate management issue.
Doing it without any science behind it just seems rather stupid.
So I guess on some level I may even agree with them, but the way the argument is made turns me off.
They aren’t actually. It’s Defenders of the Wildlife which was initially formed to stop claw like traps. They are fine with hunting in general and actually have worked with conservation groups more than many environmental gorups.
Some of the local hunting organizations also don’t like it from what I’ve gathered.
And fair enough.
Sometimes I dislike it when you are correct…
LOL—if it helps, my first reaction to the video wasn’t all that different than yours. When I saw it was DofW I took a second look.
i DONT see any problem here what you liberals dont get is that populations need to be kept at certain numbers because we already screwed everything up years ago and now we have to help
