Leader Lawsuit Watch Day 1

Since the Leader is going to sue for the release of John Kerry’s divorce records I think the process should be watched to see how it turns out. So today, we’ll just start with Leader plans to sue for Kerry’s divorce documents.

  1. As I said in…uh, well, the wrong place:
How very strange that the Leader is choosing to go after…Kerry? Um, ok. Why Kerry? This was almost entirely a Republican internal thing. The divorce thing was brought up in the Republican Primary by a Republican opponent to Jack Ryan; the suit was brought by the conservative Tribune; the GOP party leaders here in Illinois forced Ryan’s hand.

What the hell does a Democrat have to do with any of this?

  2. Leader Does What?

The Illinois Leader, the conservative newspaper here in Illinois, announced today that they’d sue to have the divorce records of John Kerry unsealed and publicized. Um, okay, sure, but why bring Kerry into this? This was a fight entirely within t…

  3. It doesn’t matter… it’s an excuse to get a Democrat, any democrat, “legally”. Kerry has done just about everything they’ve asked — dumped every conceivable war record on them, opened his wife’s finances up when he didn’t need to — if his divorce isn’t sealed (and I don’t think it is — we all know his former wife was depressed, and hospitalized and all sorts of bad things) — it’s just grandstanding.

Wonder if Ronnie’s divorce is sealed? So what if he’s dead … he’s a republican, right?

THAT’S the thinking. Am I wrong?

  4. Kenneth,

Of course you are right, but when does common sense matter? Here is an expanded statement from Dan Proft at IllinoisLeader.com: “The Chicago Tribune and a Los Angeles Family Court judge have established a new standard for the release of marital and custodial documents,” said Proft referring to the recent Jack Ryan decision. “Okay, then everyone in the public arena needs to be held to that standard. John Kerry is the start but there will be others we will seek to hold to this new standard.”

Proft was a paid staffer for Ryan.

  5. Don’t get too worried about this Kerry’s first wife has written a book on her depression and the divorce. I think we can safely assume there isn’t anything there.

Of course, my expectation is that the damn things haven’t been sealed and suing will be unnecessary leaving a giant friggen egg on Dan Proft’s little pouty party.

  6. I can’t imagine that there’s anything in the divorce file — Kerry has run statewide several times, and that’s the level where intense scrutiny comes in. I’m much more interested in finding out whether the Kerry files are indeed sealed. If they’re not sealed, what will Proft’s reaction be?
