The Osco on Old Capitol Plaza in Springfield is closing.
The store was incredibly convenient for those of us who had to make occasional trips to Springfield and walked to the Capitol from either the Hilton or the hotel formerly known as the Renaissance. I just hope that the Food Mart stays open — it has the most delightful assortment of gourmet odds and ends, and great confections to boot.

It closed at like four in the afternoon, just like everything else downtown. If it had just stayed open until 6 so I could stop by after work and get what I needed it would have been really helpful. As it was, I never actually set foot inside the store becasue I could never get there when it was actually open.
Anon’s right about the hours. But, I liked it because I could walk down to Osco when I needed. The other CVS locations aren’t within walking distance.
It would be nice if they could get a 7-11 or something in there to replace it…
