Good start, and a good burn through in a non-election quarter.
Given expectations, mainly Illinois money with Barak providing about $10,000 with both primary and general election money. About $12,000 is general election money over the primary limits, but that still gives her a huge quarter.
Duckworth’s Q4 numbers:
121K raised
16K spent
105K COH.
That includes:
10K from Obama’s PAC
10K from Durbin’s PAC
2K from Mike Honda
2K from David Axelrod
1K from Schakowsky
44K from PACs
69K from individual contributors
Individual contributors:
Duckworth:
69K from 52 individuals.
Only two of whom live in the district ($3,100).
One is her husband ($1,000).
One is her media person ($2,000)
The overwhelming majority from Chicago.
The overwhelming majority $1,000+
This is hardly a huge quarter given that the majority of her contributions came from outside the district or from her political backers.
It all spends the same.
just a quick glance shows thousands for Cegelis from outside the district, including Chicago and from her (now former) media consultant as well.
Welcome to congressional fundraising.
Cegelis: 71 of 102 contributions from district residents.
Duckworth: 2 of 52.
It may all spend the same, but the strings are far different.
Get over yourself.
The $10K from Durbin & Obama is really $5K for the Primary & $5K for the General — assuming Duckworth wins in March. Once Cegelis wins the March Primary, I’d like to know if Obama & Durbin will get their $5 each back & then give it all to Cegelis for her General campaign.
If I was Cegelis I would fire my campaign manager and fundraiser for such a poor showing.
Emanuel has done a wonderful job of keeping the big PAC donors away from Cegelis. Individual donors flocked to her during the year: $222K.
Duckworth couldn’t get that in 18 mos. of campaigning. The $19K from lawyers did make her look nice. Simmons from Alton chipped in $2,900 — still fantasizing about a fully-supported run against Shimkus no doubt. Spending money on consulting fees instead of salaries also makes her look good. She’s just a campaign-in-a-can filled with illusion.
Perhaps outside money can make any idiot a viable candidate. But this cannot even work for Ladda “Tammy” Duckworth(less), who could not even answer a question about depleted uranium during a Democratic Party townhall meeting in Bartlett, Illinois. So much for her knowledge of defense issues and her “leadership.” And why are we not criticizing her for having to relocate a fundraiser originally to be held in a K Street lobbying firm to an office at the DCCC? Why is she already receiving donations from lobbyists? Does Duckworth(less) really believe the residents of the 6th district are that dense? So Emanuel ships sliced sardines in a can from Washington, DC. Too bad the voters of the sixth district have refused the artificially preserved goods and the putrid stench of corruption and greed his semi-human puppet emits.
