Gianoulis Deathwatch Day 1

The title isn’t one wishing death on anyone, but is taken from Slate that often runs Deathwatches for doomed political candidates and officials.

Alexi is screwed and while his strategy in dealing with the issue is much better, the ball started rolling in the primary and it won’t be stopped now as the Trib clearly is working on a trickle of stories that just build on each other.

At this point he looks clueless or dishonest. I’m leaning towards clueless, but also Radogno.

  1. Radogno also has claim to the label clueless. And she’s got some pretty unsavory allies in the West Burbs herself. Why did she back LaPidus over Peraica for Lyons Township GOP committeeman and who put her up to it?

But Giannoulias is the story and Radogno is flying under the radar.

  2. LaPidus like Michael LaPidus who was at NIU in the last 90s?

Because that LaPidus is…interesting. Dude ran for DeKalb City Council at one point and lost, not the least reason was that the NIU paper exposed that he lied on his filing papers saying he lived in the ward he was running for when he didn’t.

  3. This will blow over.

The story doesn’t register with most voters given the sadly low level of attention paid to politics–ask most people to name their congressperson–they can’t.

    It’s april.

The bank has done nothing wrong and each article mentions that fact. The problem with Alexi’s initial responses can be remedied. Scour any bank’s portfolio and you’ll find some principal of some borrowing entity has a criminal past–the real story is how little has come up after the combine’s scrutiny of this bank’s portfolio.

He has to fight the republican and democratic parties, but he can do it.

  4. Oh, it’s not over–it’s going to continue because the Trib and others still have lots of material to cover—this got started in the primary and it won’t end soon.
