Had A Very Bad Day

That’s incorrect. It was an amazing to see democracy operate for a good candidate even if he came up 2,000 votes short. And there are a gazillion stories to relate over the next few days. For those who remember me promoting Jeff Smith for Gephardt’s seat, well, it didn’t quite end like I hoped, but Jeff won the County and City of Saint Louis, but outstate votes won it for Russ Carnahan. I know some readers helped him out and I want to thank you.

I’m In Tune with John Stewart

From Ellen Warren’s Party Crashing

“The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart is talking dirty about his three-week-old son, Nathan. Dirty diapers.

Just before the star of the fake news show goes on stage for the first program from the Democratic Convention here, he offered this story when I was hanging out on the set of the show.

“There were a few days where the wife and I were concerned because he hadn’t?pooped. As I was driving up to Boston, I got a call on the red phone–that he’d dropped a huge load.”

Riffing on the topic, Stewart said, “Imagine if throughout his life that’s all it took for my affection and pride. ‘Dad, I got all Ds.’ ‘Well, son, at least you took a big dump.'”

Sweet Six

Lance Did What No One Had Ever Done Before.

While I was off on the podium, Americans did well with Levi in 9th, Landis in 23rd, Hincapie at 33, Julich at 40th and Lemont’s Vandevelde in 56th.

Tyler’s back problems appear to be getting better despite early reports.

Azevedo finished 5th riding in support of Lance and Postal was only about 3 minutes behind T-Mobile in the team competition–not something typical for a team built around one guy winning. A very good tour.

I’m betting that the tour road race will be between Kloden, Ullrich, Tyler and Levi assuming they are all in the race.

Here’s the Olympic Road Team BTW.
