Jeb’s real problem is that everyone around him is so worried about winning, they are making him look much worse. Suppressing a critical report is far worse than a critical report.

Steve Neal points out that Gary McDougal has nothing, but is happy to insinuate he does against Blago. How much trouble is J-Ry in? The guy he begged to take the job after several refused can’t even offer up any real dirt.
Voters in Illinois aren’t going to choose based a ICFST campaign of inuendo and whining. They have no message whatsoever at this point except to cry boogeyman at Blago.

Myles Brand is taking over as Prez of the NCAA. First, good for the NCAA to choose an academic. While he isn’t going to change the NCAA too much it is about time to put the college back into college sports.
Second, there was just a heart attack at Texas Tech. Call the EMTs. Or don’t.
With always acknowledgements to Steve Rosenbloom.
Simon vs Davis. Bill Simon is so incompetent he was able to find Gray Davis acting ethically.
For goodness sakes, could someone tell me why this was even a news story?
First, continued rumors of Tapped’s extinction. This would be horrible. BTW, they haven’t posted yet today. If they do get rid of it, I cancel my dead tree edition.
and this quote:
“Dick Morris vs. Hillary Clinton is sort of the truth-seekers version of the Iran-Iraq war”
Daniel Gross does a great critique of the Bush economic team. However, he misses the mark on the Bush foreign policy and security team.
Of notable races they endorse Rauschenberger and Meeks. Meeks goes pretty much without saying. Rauschenberger is a bit conservative socially for me, but he is a first rate legislator and single best expert on the budget. He will never be the R’s leader though–he can shoot straight.
Molly does Texas well. She has a great column on insurance rates and this little nugget is especially interesting:
“There’s been a lot of screaming about how the cost of med-mal is driving doctors into retirement, but Public Citizen did a 21-state study showing that insurance premiums are rising at the same rate across the board — homeowners, car and health.”
Insurance is a strange product because when you buy it, you aren’t just buying insurance, you are buying a policy into the company’s health. The problem is when they have bad investments, your rates go up. In a strict sense this would be fair. However, people don’t really consider themselves stakeholders and I’m pretty damn sure nothing I can do will affect Ed Rust’s decisions. Given this relationship, insurance companies have no business whining about trial lawyers.
