  1. The October 13, 2002 Chicago Tribune describes him as “a lawyer for the state.” On October 28, 2002, the Daily Herald said, “O’Malley has no governmental experience.”

He ran for a DuPage County 4th District board seat in 2002 — and came in fourth out of four:

    Debra Olson(R) 33,150
    John Noel(R) 29,615
    Grant Eckhoff(R) 27,873
    Peter O’Malley(D) 21,092
    [Trib – November 7, 2002]

I wonder if Rich would be good enough to check out how many *different* IP addresses those comments came from…

  2. While I didn’t get a chance to meet Peter, he did attend the recent DuPage County Dems President’s Day Fundraiser (the county’s big one) where he had a table (Christine was also in attendance). He’s from Wheaton, as I understand it, has run (and lost) for County Board in 2002 (and I think may have run another race sometime), and (I’m pretty sure) is a lawyer.

  3. Peter’s an arbitrator with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. He’s 41, was born and raised in the 6th District and currently lives in Wheaton with his wife and their two young children. He ran for County Board in ’02, picking up the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald endorsements, among others, but he hasn’t run for any other public office. He considers himself a moderate. His formal annoucement will be next Wed., the 27th.
