Singer MORRISSEY was quizzed by the FBI and British intelligence after speaking out against the American and British governments.
The Brit is a famous critic of the US-led war in Iraq and has dubbed President GEORGE W BUSH a “terrorist” – but he was baffled to be hauled in by authorities.
Morrissey explains, “The FBI and the Special Branch have investigated me and I’ve been interviewed and taped and so forth.
“They were trying to determine if I was a threat to the government, and similarly in England. But it didn’t take them very long to realise that I’m not.
“I don’t belong to any political groups, I don’t really say anything unless I’m asked directly and I don’t even demonstrate in public. I always assume that so-called authoritarian figures just assume that pop/rock music is slightly insane and an untouchable platform for the working classes to stand up and say something noticeable.
“My view is that neither England or America are democratic societies. You can’t really speak your mind and if you do you’re investigated.”

Hey, just because he’s an enemy of good taste (dodges rotten fruit) doesn’t mean he’s an enemy of the state.
I don’t know what’s scarier ? imagining what this administration would be doing if it wasn’t so preoccupied with “fighting” terrorism or thinking about all of abuses of power committed because of the pretense of terrorism.

Look, I like AirAmerica well enough. But declining to appear on a nationally syndicated radio show that will be heard by precious few of the district’s voters (or for that matter CAN be heard by a precious few of the district’s voters – the signal sucks) does not make one “out of touch” or “out of the mainstream.”
It simply makes one who posts such nonsense comments on a post about Morrissey and the FBI a raging fool.
Out of the mainstream? Because she wouldn’t appear on Laura Flanders?
Errr…Laura Flanders is nice enough on the radio, but hardly the type who is at the center of the primary vote in IL-06 and certainly not at the center of the General Election electorate. I don’t begrudge anyone going on her show, but she isn’t even Al Franken.
