Who knew?  Beth Coulson is a Professor at the University of Chicago?

Coulson was on faculty at the Chicago Medical School

which is quite a bit different from being on the University of Chicago Medical School faculty

This is one of those mailer errors that’s really bizarre. It isn’t just the difference between being a lecturer/adjunct/professor, but the difference in radically different institutions.

  1. This is an unfortunate mistake, and its hard to think of an excuse for it. However, in my many years of heatlh care advocacy in Springfield on behalf of low income people, I am hard pressed to think of any better thinker and advocate than Beth Coulson. I represent poor people and thus normally line up with the democrats, given the unfortunate attitude of many republicans about health coverage and the role of government in general. Yet there are several republicans with sound thinking and non-doctrinaire attitudes on the issues, especially health care, and Coulson is tops among them. For that matter, she’s tops in the whole legislature on health care. In spite of this unfortunate gaffe by her campaign, people should make no mistake at all: she is a legitimate top quality thinker and advocate on health care issues.

  2. John,

    Get real.

The school formerly known as “Chicago Medical School” actually goes by the name “Rosalind Franklin University” nowadays but it’s still the same school up in Lake County, IL.

To the point, you can’t get much more ‘mistaken’ than ‘accidentally’ typing “University of Chicago” instead of “Rosalind Franklin University” and printing thousands of cards with the ‘gaffe’ in big, bold letters…

Then again, the school changed its name around the time of the breaking bond fraud scandal involving bipartisan bagman Stuart Levine whose illicit drug-induced lack of ethics benefited both Republicans and none other than Gov. Blagojevich.

Maybe that’s why Team Coulson ‘accidentally’ printed up thousands of mailers with the wrong school on them.

Most folks who aren’t so dizzy from spinning can see right through this ‘gaffe’.

The only candidate in this race who has actually (and honestly) been a professor at the University of Chicago is Dan Biss. Maybe that’s why the Coulson campaign ‘accidentally’ wanted to get a taste of that school’s cache.

Maybe her next mailer will ‘mistakenly’ list her degrees from MIT and Harvard….
