Something about knowing the mind of God and madness

The Good Ambassador informs us who Jesus would vote for and suggests that spanking is something more than a basketball reference. (note Requires Internet Explorer)

Inconceivable. Quick someone get Mike Conklin of the Trib to do an immitation of Wallace Shawn

  1. What’s truly amazing is the logic Keyes uses to conclude that Obama was a racist for using the term “spanking.” Spanking is something you do to a small boy, and “boy” is a derogatory term for black men, so Obama is using racist language.

Except that Republicans also associate spanking with elderly men, at least according to this craigslist posting in New York:

    http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/cas/40897963.html

“any eldery men here for the convention? any of you want to teach a sassy nyc girl a lesson with a good old fashioned bare bottom spanking? email and tell me how u would do it.
    serious replies only.”

  2. In other words, this is meta-racist language — language one step removed from racist language?

When I first saw that the good Mr. Keyes had told Obama off on the grounds that ‘spanking’ carries racist connotations, I was guessing, based on Alan’s past, that this would be the end result. I feel somewhat vindicated, but that makes me feel unclean too.

This is absurd. When will the pain of Alan Keyes accusing Barack Obama of using white racists’ language end? I mean, does he really think that reflects his principles?

(By the way, as a new reader, I love your regular Keyes updates.)
