When will those people learn to speak proper English?

I’m referring to Members of Congress, of course, as Virgil Goode says that Muslims want to put In Mooohamed We Trust on our money.

Of course, Muslims believe in the God of Abraham and Muhammad is a prophet–a highly revered prophet, but a prophet. He’s actually lower on the totem poll than Jesus.

I don’t know why I feel the need to point that out because you can’t fix stupid.

  1. Rep. Goode then went on to claim Washington should not be on both the dollar bill and the new dollar coin.

He offered up his own media-hogging visage as a replacement for the dollar bill.

    (/snark)

Sad thing is, this guy got elected to the seat he’s in. Do Virginians not realize his level of ignorance and paranoia?

  2. Imagine how differently we would treat Islam if we just correctly translated their core belief: There is no God but God, and Muhammed is His messenger.

“There is no God but God” is probably the most eloquent and profound statement of monotheism. When we translate this belief to “There is no God but Allah” we very deliberately make it seem that Islam is a polytheistic religion — we Christians and Jews believe in God, but those guys worship something called Allah.

The real struggle the Western world has with “jihadists” is that their fundamentalist views directly contradict our beliefs about human rights. The irony here is that the religious right in this country — and it sure sounds like Goode is part of that crowd — is also mounting an attack on some human rights. Yet, that crowd is the loudest in suggesting that “islamo-fascist” terrorists want to take away our freedoms.

The religious right doesn’t care about freedom. All they care about is expressing the supremacy of their version of Christianity.

  3. You can’t fix stupid, but you can’t point at it, laugh at it, and ridicule it to the point that stupid stops being so damned proud of itself that it hides in a hole for the rest of it’s life or gets some education so as not to be so damned stupid.
