District 150 in Peoria has renewed Edison Schools contract. I’ll have more on this later, but I figured a post would remind me.
Yo! Bill any take on this?

Actually, I don’t have any strong opinion on this.
Which is kinda funny considering I plan a career in education, once i finally get enough scratch together to get back into college full-time.
Edison has its haters and it’s admirers. The haters, namely the teachers unions, have done nothing but undermine the process to the point it’s been hard to conceed that Edison has been given a real shot at proving its worth.
As soon as Edison took over several schools in Peoria, a day couldn’t pass with some negative story being leaked to the press.
Frankly, District 150 has serious problems at the School Board and Superintendent level that have NOTHING to do with Edison.
The biggest problem: The almost complete lack of discipline in schools. Teacher’s aren’t being backed up, and critics of the administration are being silenced by people who cry racism.
Forgive any typos in this post. I’m very tired after a long day of work.
I have mixed feelings on them as well– a good friend helped set up a few charters by Edison in St. Louis, but I also know many of the problems they’ve had. I was wondering if there were any local angles–and you came through. Thanks.
