Some turnout nuggets from Dem congressional campaign sources:
GOTV rallies have been larger than expected: 6K showed up for Bill Clinton’s last-minute visit to AZ 05.
In IL 06, the DCCC canvassing program stormed through two days worth of precincts in less than one day
In IN 08, “huge numbers of volunteers” are showing up
600 volunteers spent Sunday making calls on behalf of Dem Angie Paccione in CO 04
The DCCC claims early vote success in FL (Hotline reporting, 11/6).
Pretty much confirmed in comments and e-mail here.
The only thing that worries me is that it seems like we were hearing the same thing in 2004.
More anecdotage…
I phonebanked for MoveOn.org yesterday, during which we heard from Eli Pariser via a conference call. He claimed that more volunteers have participated in MoveOn GOTV efforts in the past 2 days than during the entire 2004 election.
They’d set a goal of making 5,000,000 voter calls by Tuesday, a mark that was reached sometime early Sunday evening (I forget the number of actual voter contacts).
I’m headed back after work tonight.
To be clear, this is more apropos to national GOTV.
An organizer I spoke with in Evanston yesterday said they had originally focused primarily on House races. Volunteers had rifled through those quick enough, though, that by the time I got there, they’d moved on to close Senate races. I called people in Maryland in support of Ben Cardin.
I have to imagine that they had already brought some GOTV to bear on the tight IL House races.
