Bobby Rush trying to be gracious about Barack. Funny, but NPR didn’t mention that Rush supported Hull in the primary.
Pappas gives some good Obama porn predicting he’ll be catapulted to national fame.
Speaking of Pappas I hear Jim Allen and her were out cycling with good friends of mine Jason and Maddie–they say hi Jim if you are still reading.
So Rush can’t be gracious, but Pappas (who ran against Obama) can? What kind of double standard is that?

uhhh..given Bobby held a grudge for a few years and Maria never was upset so it’s a bit different. Bobby was pulling out all the stops back in Marchto keep Obama from getting the Senate nomination out of spite. Now, he knows Barack is going to be above him in the pecking order and his switch is awfully humorous.
rush endorsed both hull and pappas
i would cast aspersions on the integrity and acumen of someone who had the unmitigated gall and audacity to run agains the inefffable and inexorable bobby rush
obama did and so did donn e trotter
obviously its the jackson/obama dynasty vs the rush dynasty
shaw is allied with rush because he recruited jesse l jackson to run against jesse jackson
pappas’s acumen far exceeds that of any of the other democratic canidates
though on march 17 she iterated “this must be the drug use and sexual perversion race…..” only pappas could say that with any integrity………..
pappas for president!!!!!!
A politician that holds a grudge? God forbid! Let’s hang Mayor Daley up by his gonads while we’re at it, too. The shrill cries against Rush are only about vulgar racial politics that are so prevalent in Chicago as to be taken as an article of faith and not denounced for what they are. The shrill articles by black Chicago columnists during the primary were disgusting and racist, and did nothing toward the racial reconciliation that Mr. Obama claims to be all about. I would welcome the day where a black politician can support a white politican running against another black politician without fear of being called Uncle Tom or accused of holding a grudge. Sadly that day seems far away.
Yeah, it is manifestly unfair for Bobby Rush to be exposed to “vulgar racial politics.”
Mike is not kidding. I supported Obama against Rush when they ran “mano a mano” because I despised Rush’s racial politicking in that race. Disparaging Obama’s racial identity struck me as more than a little wrong – I was repulsed by it. Now it is for Obama, as the winner, to show that he will not tolerate that type of divisiveness and racial politicking when it is used to help him. My point is that he has not done that, and for that I am disappointed in Mr. Obama. I never suggested Rush doesn’t engage in racial divisiveness. I want Obama to be better, and to condemn it wherever he sees it – and that includes when it comes from his own supporters. That will be the true measure of Obama, but to date he has not measured up…
I just think Rush is an idiot. My favorite Bobby Rush story is when the Mayor encircled his press conferences with snow plows while Bobby was trying to bitch about
The only person bringing up race in the thread is you Mike. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a mediocre politician on the big losing end of having a new power broker who he has fought being above him in the pecking order.
What is Obama supposed to condemn specifically?
