DJRluth also makes the brilliant argument that Keyes is not a carpetbagger because the Reconstruction-era carpetbaggers were Northerners who moved to the South. Keyes is from Maryland moving east.
The reasoning is impeccable, especially since Maryland was a slave state (even though it didn’t secede).
And yet Hillary who moved south to north should still be considered a carpetbagger. Though actually she is even worse — a baggy carpeter.
I dunno – I’m beginning to think he’s some sort of avant-garde political performance artist, beacuse I find it hard to believe anyone is that loopy.
eric: the great DJRluth is one step ahead of you about Hillary. Hillary moved from Illinois (North) to Arkansas (South), thus making her (I guess) a permanent carpetbagger.
Of course, Keyes who was born in New York (North) moved only to Maryland (South and slave, but a Union State) cannot be a carpetbagger.
