Thanks to Counterspin Central for the linkage. For those here for the first time–Blog Saint Louis linked at the side is for news concerning the Saint Louis Region. This page covers everything else with a healthy dose of Illinois politics. Florida and Iowa news make regular appearances as well.
When not whining about Democrats and Howell Raines, Kaus does some good stuff. If correct, this is the scoop of the day.
The problem with the analysis is that Davis is so incredibly obsessive he probably has 13 interest groups ready with attack ads against Arnold and Riordan. I doubt Arnold can hold up to the ugliness. Riordan is a different deal and here in Misserah, he’d be a liberal commie pinko along with Rudy Guiliani. So I’d be all for Riordan taking on the blowhards. The problem is with the mediocre race he ran in the primary, it is unclear Riordan want to be governor.
The Note has an interesting exchange about the FEC and Campaign Finance Reform. Congress may win in the end, but clearly this is a case where Presidential influence in bureaucratic decision-making is dominant. Calling McNollgast and Moe.
Politically, this creates a problem for Bush. Pissing off McCain only has a downside.
If there is going to be an opening for Democrats in rural areas, hog farms will be that opening. Vilsack might have to ride that one to win in Iowa. Blago should be paying attention, especially due to the close ties of the former IEPA director and her brother, the operator of a commecial hog lot.
Why Skinner should be allowed in the debate. He is hysterical and this race is quickly becoming boring. Of course this could be related to this comment by McQueary regarding decadent baked goods….
Steve Neal must have been desperate for a topic today. Stroger is going to win a third term! Wow–news at 11.
I’m pretty sure Madigan used his staff unethically, but I doubt he was as stupid as Lee Daniels. The intent is clear, but he probably met the letter of the law.
Chicago has gone wacky. Most cities fight over building a new stadium. Chicago fights over night games, a minor improvement on the current stadium and whether people can steal the product of the Tribune Corporation.
The Freepers haven’t let me down. One of the more amusing comments claims our cars cost 10 times as much and our air conditioners don’t work as well. The first claim is absurd and the second is empirically false–they actually work better, though that has little to do with CFCs being banned.
Will Cal Thomas or Mona Charen make my prediction come true for the major media? I’m betting so….
