Call It A Comeback
The story about Jeb making cracks about two lesbians related to a missing girl has been claimed to be evidence that Jeb is homophobic. Sure he is. Andy Sullivan claims not, but well, that is Andrew Sullvan. It is a homophobic remark. No surprise. The surprise is how juvenile the comment is. I guess the adults being back in charge means Governors get to act like 6th graders.
Illinois Issues has a good story on the impact of redistricting on the Illinois Senate. A must read primer for the election. Even Rauschenberger is seriously challenged. While I’d like to see a Dem Senate, Raurschenberger is a serious guy on budget issues and it would be a shame to lose him. Kinda check on the system kinda guy.

The interesting thing is how on the defensive the ICFST is. There is virtually no mention of targeted pick ups or contested seats except for defensive slots. It would appear, from the Republican side, that reallignment is close to done and that means a strong Dem position for a while.
Instapundit thinks the Maryland/Virginia shootings are terrorism being covered up. So when you eat the crow later, how would you and Mr. Quick like to have it served?
What is it about people refusing to believe that an American is capable of such an act? This has Soldier of Fortune fruitcake written all over it. But a good white American boy couldn’t do something like this, could they? So we are going to pretend it is Arab Terrorism and dismiss the possibility that our culture could produce something like this. For a group of bloggers, who are represented by these two, who insist anti-war advocates are putting their head in the sand, I’d say they need to get their heads out of their asses.
Kit Bond did a bang up job on keeping election reform alive and eventually passing it. His requirement that first time voters show ID is reasonable and the bill starts to address the problems this country has with the infrastructure of voting.
Topinka looks to improve the tourism surrounding Cahokia. The first thing might to buy up some of the car heaps claiming to be car repair facilities.
I’m always amazed that Cahokia isn’t a national park. The State of Illinois does an adequate job, but the level of history available should be maintained by the National Park Service.

The Congressman I respect more than any other disagrees and is against war in Iraq. This is especially interesting because of Leach’s close personal relationship with HW.
Josh Marshall take more time than I have to make the case of why Perle is such a problem.
Difrancesco’s withdrawal has been the primary example of why Torricelli’s withdrawal and replacement should be allowed. Josh Marshall provides a clearer example with Mitt Romney’s resdency issue.
More importantly, he points out the sky is falling arguments is absurd. The type of situation is pretty limited and thus, not likely to be repeated again and again.
Instapundit has his panties in a wad because he thinks some random shootings are by al Qaeda. My favorite comment is by his buddy:
I guess there’s one more thing that makes it worth speculating about a terrorist angle – the Post report you cite omits any, even fragmentary description of the killers. The Post has a tendency to do that when they’re afraid such descriptions will inspire what they think of as retrograde reactions.
Newspapers do that when they don’t know much either. Not reporting erroneous information is generally better. The relationship to whether this is terrorism and the race of the perps seems rather strange anyway given our history with Tim McVeigh.
&c, or the artist formerly known as Noam Schreiber, points out the situtation in New Jersey is highly unlikely to cause a flood of replacement candidates. Amen.

For both sides the statements of gloom and doom over the replacement is very overplaced. Voters just don’t care that much. The people who do already had their minds made up.
The bottom line is the State of New Jersey has a reasonably competitive election.
And, ummmm…to be disenfranchised you have to not be allowed to vote—nothing indicates military voters won’t be allowed to vote.
