New Blogs

Maureen Ryan of the Trib is doing the Watcher on the Trib Site. It’s very good and contains lots of good TV gossip. I’m already a fan and will be permalinking soon.

Other new sites include
Decatur Democrat A good site for Macon County and downstate politics

WillyNilly focusing on Peoria

IlPundit, my favorite new one, though he hasn’t posted in a while–he used to post in comments under SpringfieldDem and I’m a fan of his.

Life Liberty and Chocolate with a reference to Catwoman as the author. I’m a sucker for Batman references.

Where Have I Been

I know, slow lately. I’ve been doing some other writing as well as battling a computer virus and a cold/sinus issue sweeping through the house.

One article I wrote got picked up in the St. Louis American’s Editorial

And the Mayor who said:

Because of the media circus, a lot of people are confused about what is
happening in the St. Louis Public Schools. I thought this piece by the
Arch City Chronicle was fair, balanced and thoughtful. I hope you find
it helpful.

I am considering a lawsuit for his use of Fair and Balanced-given Fox News I consider this a libelous statement.

And here is the actual issue if you want to read it. The most recent ACC has an article on Open Court Reading System as well. The forthecoming one next week will include a piece on the District contract.

I also wrote a bit in The Commonspace on the electoral outcome in Missouri and what it means to St. Louis.

New Advertiser

Kevin McCullough joins us on the right hand side. Not my typical advertiser, but hey, I’ve always said, most advertisers will get posted. Please take a look at his site and feel free to criticize him–I do quite frequently, but do it civily. Kevin was the recipient of an e-mail that was sent with my address and responded to him in a profane and inarticulate way. So if you criticize Kevin for some content you find over there, do it in an articulate and non-profane way. If you are a fan of Kevin, please do the same for me.

Exit Polling

Zorn has the right take on the exit polls, but let me offer just a bit more. The polls are pretty close to right once they were weighted for turnout which happens after the polls close. It’s not a huge deal, really.

It does renew my interest in doing a series on polling though and I think I have some outside folks who might be interested. In the interest of my sanity though I’m going to hold off for a bit and return to having a normal life.

That said, I’m also aiming for my Second half of November break so if you are interested in guest blogging drop me a line or post in comments. My biggest preference is non-blogging folks as of now, but will certainly consider those with other blogs. Partisanship is a factor, but certainly folks like OneMan are good reads so not the only factor.

If you have links to add send them to me with New Link in the subject. It’ll be a bit before I make changes, but if I have them handy, it helps.

And one of my favorite commenters has a new blog–Springfield Dem. But I lost the address so if he could send it to me, I’ll add it soon here.

The Plan for the Next Few Days

There won’t be many changes, but expect to see some Missouri news mixed in to make updating easier. For Missouri readers, the category archive will be Missouri and I’ll leave a link here in a bit to access it and filter out the national and Illinois issues. That will start tomorrow.

The big news–I’ll be at DNC HQ with the DCCC guys for election day so I’ll be blogging from the “war room” there. It should be interesting and there should be an amazing cross section of info coming in from across the country. Or CNN as that is usually the case. I’ll be blogging every day through the election though Monday will be spotting since that’ll be a travel day. I’ll do my usual round-up on Tuesday morning of Illinois politics, and then later in the afternoon step up to consistent updating through election night. So Tuesday night, check in, I’ll have lots of info available.
