  1. When I hear ‘budget’ and contemplate our situation at both the State and County level, why does a vision enter my head of a comet careening towards Planet Earth?

State and Local budgets are at such a disadvantage when the Federal Government starts reducing funding. They’re really at the receiving end.

In the immortal words of Gov. Huckabee (R-AK): “I certainly understand the need to balance the federal budget. But people need to remember that to balance the federal budget off the backs of the poorest people in the country is simply unacceptable. You don’t pull feeding tubes from people. You don’t pull the wheelchair out from under the child with muscular dystrophy.”

  2. One again, smoke and mirrors. Let?s see, 4 proposals to fund pensions that don?t produce any concrete cash because 1. the casino license in limbo; 2. hoping teachers will work longer is no guarantee that they will (I taught, I know); 3, surplus property is usually junk that won?t generate much, and aren?t held that often and, the fourth proposal, looking for new source of revenue, is something we should have been doing all along, it?s nothing new. This sounds like a high school term paper, using anything to flesh out the meager content. Governor, we aren?t that dumb!

Taking credit for 13,000 less state employees, when he knows that 11,000 retired during his predecessor?s watch.

Filling those vacancies with his sweet young 20 somethings entourage, fresh out of business school, who haven?t got a clue about state government or the State Constitution.

Cradle to the grave coverage for everyone, everywhere.

Telling us we have a balanced budget but no information how it got that way.

Giveaways to everyone but the older middle class, who pay the freight, and state employees who are still behind others in similar jobs in private industry when it comes to cost of living.

?Ignore that man behind the curtain.? It?s the Land of Oz, kiddies. CROSS POSTED AT CAP.FAX.BLOG.

Wow, so now the ‘Anonymous’ are cross-posting as well! May wonders never cease.

  4. Leo,

I suspect in this case (and in many others), “Cross Posted” translates roughly to, “I was so pleased with the pearls of wisdom that have come rolling off of my keyboard, I JUST HAD to post this somewhere else — thanks for the forum.”

    Or something like that…

  5. OOPS…

No, actually, I really was referring to comments – not posts per se…particularly one seeded with attempts at being caustic and clever (and posted anonymously), as seen above.

I’ve kind of caught on to the whole cross-posting thing. For example, it kind of allows me to get a bitter little taste of Jill Stanek’s bile on Illinoize, without having to go to her blog -shudder.

  6. Well, the innovation here — and this might be historical for all I know — is someone not simply cross-posting things anonymously, but announcing that he/she/it was doing it.

Usually when you’re cross-posting stuff, you want to bring attention to yourself. Being anonymous kind of defeats the purpose — unless that’s the person’s real name. Who knows? i can now say I’ve seen everything.
