Initial Exits say election was nationalized

Tentatively good to hear

While 62% of respondents indicated that national issues made biggest difference in how they cast their votes, just 33% indicated that local issues decided their vote. Republicans had recently been pressing their case that local issues would decide the races.

In what is seen as more bad news for Republicans, corruption ranked as the top issue among those casting ballots, with 42% indicating that concern in that area drove their vote.

Terrorism ranked second, with the economy and Iraq following shortly behind. Of those indicating the war weighed heavily in their vote, 57% said that they disapproved of Bush’s handling of the situation, with just 41% indicating they approved of his performance.

Give the Free Enterprise Fund a phone call

When you are done calling the NRCC concerning harassing robo-calls be sure to give the Free Enterprise Fund a call. They seem to have thought it wise to include Tammy Duckworth’s home number on a campaign commercial and encouraged folks to call it.

They are bankrolled by Bob Perry of Swiftboat fame and the same group that did the Brokeback Democrats commercials. Great folks.

A Poll I Don’t Believe

Polimetrix has Blagojevich at 61, Topinka 39. 800 Person sample done for an academic consortium. My guess is the horse race part of it isn’t what they are really trying to analyze so take from it what you will.

The first obvious problem is they don’t seem to have polled Whitney, but also, I haven’t heard anyone suggest that Blagojevich would be anywhere near that high. But I offer it up since it’s out there. I’ll guarantee, he won’t get 61%, though there are scenarios he can break 50%. I don’t predict those, but they are possible.
