Sullivan has it

Todd Palin’s former business partner files an emergency motion to have his divorce papers sealed. Oh God.

For those who may not be familiar with Obama’s 2004 race, Jack Ryan (Jack!) was forced to drop out of the race after winning the Republican nomination over embarrassing details in his divorce file.

Obama campaign refuses to confirm nor deny if Obama made a deal with the devil.

  1. William, turn on a tv or “do the google”…

Todd Palin’s former business partner recently made an emergency motion to have publicly available divorce records put under an emergency seal.

Simultaneous to that, the same National Enquirer reporter that broke the John Edwards affair and the Bristol Palin pregnancy is now reportedly hunting down a story about an extramarital affair involving Alaskans….

  2. “do the google”…

Wow! I did and guess what the top hits were…Sully & Daily Kos. Imagine that. If you go to Google News, nothing but a link to a British tabloid with unsubstantiated rumor and inuendo…

    Got any links to share?

  3. Somehow I think even if this is true mere affairs will not be enough for Palin to remove herself from the ticket. Desperation has made the Republicans even more shameless than usual, and she’s got their crazy people so excited that nothing short of the proverbial live girl/dead boy will be enough of a scandal to remove her from the ticket.

  4. Rich,

I tend not to actually read that … “newspaper” though they do seem to be on a bit of a roll with actual news in-between “articles” about bat-eared boys.

  5. They have that a business associate of the Palins–who owns part of their house all of a sudden asked for an emergency order to close a normally public record.

  6. “I tend not to actually read that … “newspaper” though they do seem to be on a bit of a roll with actual news in-between “articles” about bat-eared boys.”

Actually The Weekly World News is the only media outlet willing to tackle the Bat Boy story. The Enquirer knows the truth, but even they don’t have the guts to investigate it.

  7. William,

You seem to not be comprehending something pretty basic.

Andrew Sullivan posted a link to the Alaska court in which this activity is taking place. He made the barest of allusions to any of the rumors swirling.

    He wrote:

And Kos (as in Markos Moulitsas) didn’t even post anything at all.

It was diarists posting to his site who mentioned it — just like you and I here at ArchPundit are using the comment function or random people at Prairie State Blue or Free Republic can post what they want.

Anyone can sign up at Daily Kos and post any danged thing they want, including well-known (at least in Illinois) conservative pundit wannabe Dan Proft.

So what is your issue with discussion of this move by the Palins’ former business partner and the speculation regarding it?

If it turns out to be something completely inconsequential to the (mccain)/PALIN!!! ticket then all these folks who got all hot and bothered over some rumors will look foolish. Such is life. 😉

That said, the past few days have shown a pattern whereby rumors that appear to start amongst Gov. Palin’s conservative/Republican enemies in Alaska are amplified on liberal sites only to have conservative partisans who don’t loathe Gov. Palin come to her defense. But they all seem to start in Alaska, with her GOP political enemies up there.

    Adolphus,

    My bad. LOL.

  8. Little known facts about Ms. Palin: 1) pushed for censorship in Alaskan libraries. 2)Sarah Palin refused the building of the bridge only after she saw it was advantageous to her politically but she kept the MONEY! all $223 mil…[talk about more of the same…uuuggghhh!]

  9. It’s, of course, purely coincidental that a business partner of Todd Palin and Sarah Palin and part owner of their home, filed to keep his divorce records sealed by emergency order on the second working day since her nomination was announced. Purely.

Now, the type of information that is in there is certainly unknown at this point, but I doubt an emergency request was made just by coincidence.

  10. “Blogs do tend to be a day or two ahead of the news cycles ”

Or it’s just an Andrew Sullivan circle jerk –

According to the filing, Richter wanted the documents deemed confidential in a bid to cloak details about his home, workplace, and phone numbers because “reporters and news agencies” were using that information to contact him. Richter, a 39-year-old contractor, noted that he is “friends and land owners in a remote cabin” with the Palins and, as a result, journalists were intruding on the “cabin life and private life” of him and his 11-year-old son. The petition to dissolve the marriage was filed jointly last July by Richter and his ex-wife, who were not represented by lawyers. A judge granted the dissolution less than two months after the couple filed to end their marriage. (2 pages)

  11. William,

Touche. But again, Sullivan never mentioned the rumors of an illicit affair (nor the National Enquirer article for that matter) in his post which started the blogging frenzy.

Others began filling in the many blanks with speculation of their own.

As an aside, it’s interesting to note how many of these rumors about Sarah Palin begin with her Republican nemeses in Alaska… (not that this particular rumor was one of those). Seems to be quite the vicious intraparty battle going on up there. And here we thought Illinois was bad on that front.
