Luechtefeld’s district office rent is paid by his campaign, but the Southern’s story doesn’t jibe with the PD’s, which says:
“Many of the allegations are circumstantial or speculative. However, the documents do appear to show that Luechtefeld’s district office used official state letterhead to send out thank-you notes for campaign contributions, a potential violation of campaign rules.”
I think there is not a lot here, on either side. Whoever did the dumpster diving was really wasting their time, as how can you prove that it came from that specific dumpster anyway, so the person strikes me as not real bright.
The Southern Illinoisian has a story on this as well.
