If Salt Lake City Couldn’t Run a Clean Olympics

  1. That’s the point.

It may not be clean, but it will run smoothly and break even. Well, at least the major events will. The lesser events will be essentially ignored.

    Chicago, right?

  2. I know the gentleman, Akif Malik, who initiated the Olympic bid efforts, back in the 90’s. Daley eventually decided not to proceed. If Akif Malik is involved in a bid effort, I have no doubt the bid will be successful and create huge benefits to the region. He’s one of the most visionary people I’ve ever met. I’m sure others will deal with the political funny business. I’m excited about the possibility and hope Daley gives his blessing! Chicago is a much more appealing candidate worldwide than New York (sorry to anyone from NY) and Los Angeles has already had it twice.

There’s an interim site at http://www.chicago2016.net if you’re interested.

  3. I’m totally in favor of Malik’s idea and am glad Daley finally seems to be agreeing with it, even if he’s doing it to divert attention from his political problems.

I also agree Chicago is a much better candidate than New York. I hope Daley gives the full go-ahead.
