Why isn’t there a strategic plan and fundraising document at the Democratic Commitment Conference ?
The report Locked Out has some good points and such, but misses some critical points. And the above question points out the issue. When someone tells me they want money to win a bunch of Congressional seats, I want to know how else they are going to raise money and how they plan to spend it.
If you tell me that the 9 candidates didn’t fundraise well, and one of them wants to correct the problem by distributing cash to a wider array of candidates, from where is that cash coming?
I wish they would’ve been allowed to raise money. It’s not because they didn’t try.
The FEC reports would show the exact expenditures.

I will comment on the first phase of our fund raising strategy.
One of the key reasons for the name “Democratic Committment” is that we will be asking each Democrat incumbent elected to the US Senate, House, State-wide office, and state legislature for a contribution. We will ask only in those states in which a Democratic Committment Conference has occured and a chapter has been officially organized.
We will publicize the incumbent’s contributions on our web site and through our email newsletter.
This serves to relieve the incumbents of charges of not supporting candidates. It also relieves them of risky endorsements.
As part of this phase of fund raising we will also ask county central committees for contributions. This allows them so show their support for taking back congress without the problem of endorsement processes.
We will distribute money first to legacy candidates who were in the previous general election and who continued to campaign past the November election. These candidates would qualify regardless of a primary opponent.
Next set would be a petition qualified candidate who does not have a primary challenger. If we have the funds before the primary they would qualify before the primary.
The third set would be primary winners, even if our legacy candidate lost. If we have the funds they would get the money.
Our hope is for $5,000 before the primary and before the general for each qualifying candidate. However, that is contingent upon fund raising.
