Kirk on the new map:
“The draft map is the unfortunate result of cynical partisans who want to override the decision of Illinois voters who elected fiscal conservatives to Congress. Its main purpose is to force Nancy Pelosi back into power.
“The map senselessly divides dozens of Illinois communities and denies our growing Hispanic community their rightful opportunity to be fully enfranchised with a second Congressman.
“This map was gerrymandered to ensure suburban voters will have little voice in Congress.”
Actually the outstate part of the map is far better than the last map in making more geographically compact districts.
I think what is most disappointing about our junior Senator is his extraordinary “hackery.”
In 200 he was one of the Congressman who participated in creating a map that was drawn for one purpose and one purpose only, to insure that all incumbents would be elected. That is why we ended up with a district that resemble a drunk driving through the State.
Senator Kirk should better spend his time explaining to us how he really truly wants to keep medicare by destroying it
He’s a fiscal conservative so it’s fiscally conservative even if it explodes the deficit, destroys elderly health care, and is a handout to big businesses. Of course, he also voted for all those Bush budgets and tax cuts that led to our current fiscal shape so it’s all consistent.
