Pantagraph Endorses Obama

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical”?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes…
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!

The Stupid Cup Runneth Over

Frank Burns of the Illinois Blogosphere swings and misses:

Seals Campaigns with Blagojevich Treasurer Despite Ties to Mob and Illegal Gun Ring

Frank tries to call Giannoulias as a part of Blagojevich’s administration.  For those not familiar with Illinois politics-the State Treasurer is an independently elected office.  Unless we are now calling Judy Barr Topinka as part  of the first Blagojevich Adminstration.  I wouldn’t put it past Frank, but I tend to concort with a bit smarter class of readers.

Then, it’s also important to note, Blagojevich doesn’t like Alexi and Alexi doesn’t like Rod.   That’s beyond dispute so I have no idea how he qualifies as Blagojevich’s Treasurer anymore than he qualifies as Frank Burn’s Treasurer.

Of course, the loan to the Yildiz didn’t appear to involve Alexi and as with most of the crap Madigan dumped on Alexi, it isn’t clear how loaning money for a legal business is shocking especially when Alexi wasn’t doing the lending at the time.  Then again Frank doesn’t appear to understand the difference between home lending and commercial lending so perhaps it hurts to much to think about it.

Steve Patterson wrote one of the better stories explaining the transactions in another case often cited to “prove” mob ties:

A lawsuit filed this week in Cook County Circuit Court demands that Broadway Bank — run by the Giannoulias family — not hold Loren Billings responsible for the loan and interest.

Billings, who for years has run the Museum of Holography on the Near West Side, was duped by three Ukrainian businesspeople who convinced her to take out the loan in order to purchase shares in their own holography company, the lawsuit says.

Billings’ attorney says Giannoulias ignored her mental state and the histories of those with her and awarded her the loan in 2002.

Giannoulias campaign spokesman Scott Burnham called those allegations “groundless.”

“There was no indication whatsoever that she was mentally impaired at the time,” he said. “There was a concern about her involvement with these individuals.”

Because of that concern, Burnham said, the bank would not allow Maria Chychula, Igor Anatsko and Vitaliy Baka to be listed as co-borrowers, as they desired.

Additionally, Giannoulias wrote a letter to Billings, expressing his concern to her about their history, recommending she hire an attorney to help review the documents.

However, attorney Peter King, representing Billings’ estate, which filed the suit against Broadway, called that “a self-serving letter written simply to cover his own behind.”

Most importantly, Alexi has done a great job as Treasurer. Only someone completely ignorant about Illinois politics would try and make him into a Blagojevich ally.  One could, however, point out his closest political ally is Barack Obama and we know that Mark Kirk thinks the Obama agenda is a horrible. So why not argue on those merits?

Today’s Tosser: Do You Even Have to Ask?

Now highlighting crackpot conspiracy theories about Obama’s birth certificate!

You see, Factcheck.org is funded by the Annenberg Foundation so it’s all a part of the conspiracy.

Very old timers in Chicago might get a chuckle out of the fact that FactCheck.org is funded by guess who?  That’s right, Obama’s old pals at the Annenberg Foundation, the same outfit that gave Obama and Bill Ayers a lot of bucks to pass around to their pals such as Rev. Jeremiah Wright for “education reform” research.  It gets better.  The media always tells you Walter Annenberg was a great publisher, philanthropist, and a Nixon ambassador to London.  Yup, he was all those things too, but his fortune first came from his Daddy, Mo Annenberg, when both father and son were mobsters in Chicago in the 20s and 30s.

Apparently this particular dunce cannot read either:

CLICK HERE to see the Annenberg funded FactCheck.org article defending Obama updated on Aug. 26.  The article shows many pictures of what they say is the original certificate complete with laser printing unknown in 1961.  CLICK HERE to read more about Mo and Walter Annenberg in a story from the Philadlphia City Paper in 2002.

So click to the article and what do you read:

You can click on the photos to get full-size versions, which haven’t been edited in any way, except that some have been rotated 90 degrees for viewing purposes.

The certificate has all the elements the State Department requires for proving citizenship to obtain a U.S. passport: “your full name, the full name of your parent(s), date and place of birth, sex, date the birth record was filed, and the seal or other certification of the official custodian of such records.” The names, date and place of birth, and filing date are all evident on the scanned version, and you can see the seal above.

The document is a “certification of birth,” also known as a short-form birth certificate. The long form is drawn up by the hospital and includes additional information such as birth weight and parents’ hometowns. The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. The Hawaii Department of Health’s birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate, but their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department. We tried to ask the Hawaii DOH why they only offer the short form, among other questions, but they have not given a response.

One gets the sense that the folks at Illinois Review are ripe for giving very nice Nigerians bank account information.

Today’s Tosser: IR

Who else.  When you got the crazy, go all in.  I’m a bit disturbed at the attention the hoax is getting in Pittsburgh simply because we are talking about a 20 year old girl who is obviously troubled. Hopefully the false report charges will lead to her getting some mental health help.  However, the Illinois Review went all in on it:

Read the small print on your McCain/Palin bumper stickers. They should say: “This display could be hazardous to your health.” Today a 20 year old Pittsburgh woman was robbed and maimed because she supports McCain…

Daily Dolt: It’s a Leftist Ploy

And parody is again made useless over at Illinois Review:

Indeed, the Bachman attack is not about Chris Matthews at all.  It’s all about this speech Congresswoman Bachman made in Congress earlier this year, exposing Planned Parenthood’s racket.  Watch this to the end, where Mrs. Bachman refers to Illinois’ Planned Parenthood chief Steve Trombley.

Prolife Americans need to understand what’s happening this election year.  Not only are abortion advocates committed to killing unborn babies, they want taxpayers to fund their abhorrent activities and they are willing to write checks to make examples of lawmakers who dare to challenge their taxpayer-funded evil empires.

With the defeat of Michelle Bachman and the bloody beating IL 11th CD prolife candidate Marty Ozinga is taking at the hands of EMILY’s List-endorsed Debbie Halvorson, it will be more and more difficult to get good prolife candidates to step up to the plate.  At the very least, they will remain cautious in expressing their passion to fight for the unborns’ right to life.

And the Cratering Continues

It’s just across the board cratering on Republican numbers in Congressional races.  The economic crisis is killing them and more than anything the volatility is the real problem.

Daily Kos has new numbers from Research 2000

Kirk (R) 43 (44)
Seals (D) 49 (38)

But the number that is apparently giving Kirk’s campaign the worst indigestion is this:
And here’s a surprise for y’all — in this round of polling, R2K is asking whether people have voted already in states with early voting. Illinois has it, and the 11 percent of the sample that has already voted looks like this: Kirk (R) 35
Seals (D) 57

That is consistent with everything I’m hearing from the ground in the 10th.  No one poll should stand alone, but there is clear movement towards Seals in all of the polling including internals if what I’m hearing is correct.

But the question no one has gotten Kirk to answer yet–what is the problem with the Obama agenda?

Rod doesn’t like the ad

U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Chicago, who once headed the DCCC and unofficially shepherds Illinois congressional races, said he, too, was not involved in developing the ad or deciding to run it. But like Mr. Adelstein, he said he likes the spot because it “levels the playing field a little bit.”

Mr. Blagojevich’s office had no comment on the matter, but sources said the governor’s camp has privately expressed its displeasure. Mr. Blagojevich, himself a former congressman, is said to have “gone ballistic” when he first heard of the spot.
