As you can see, for the next week or so, I have some help from some great guest posters who I want to thank. Be nice to them.

I also know a bunch of links are FUBAR, but for now, I don’t have the time to deal with it. I’m grading Advanced Placement Government & Politics exams for the week and it’s simply too exhausing to try and blog. On top of it, I have a cold from St. Louis.

Also, my E-mail access is FUBAR. If you need to get a hold of me, use the Yahoo! account (s). Even then I’ll probably be slow to respond. If I can, I’ll pass the interesting stuff on to the guest posters.

I do have two posts coming up that I’ve been meaning to do, but after that I’ll be pretty quiet for several days and let them have at it.

Finally, remember to support Rich’s proposed invasion of Missouri. Save me.

Sigh…Petey’s Trolling

“Peter L.”

Larry, I didn’t know you were a gay activist…

…now it all makes sense: the finger, etc. Hope in the future you can criticize my ideas without resorting to sophomoric putdowns. Best–pl

Consider this an open thread—my biggest concern is that this is Petey’s desperate way of getting attention, sort of like boys in about sixth grade pestering the girls. Mostly that’s really icky, not because it would be gay, but because it would be LaBarbera.

Second, someone has to tell Ms. ArchPundit, I guess.

The oddest thing about this is that putting up a picture flipping off Petey for his little attempt to out someone who says he is not gay and only seems to be suspicious because he is middle aged and single, but voted differently than Petey liked is called by Petey as sophomoric, while the entire outing someone who says they can’t be outed was perfectly rationale and grown up.

Howdy

Hello Archpundit readers. Your friendly neighborhood Backup Pundit signing in here to keep y’all entertained for the next week or so.

We’ll start with, “people who should burn in hell for $200 Alex” and the Tribune update on a May story on someone stealing land owned by churches.

Bet Svengoli will be disturbed to learn this guy is from Berwyn.

And here’s to Larry feeling better.

Please, Invade. Now.

Rich suggests invading Missouri. The only question I have is that it might be smarter to wait for St. Louis City and St. Louis County to simply ask to be annexed.

The basic problem is the State of Missouri is broke. Sure, it’s solvent, but there’s no money for serious infrastructure improvement for several years. What money does exist is targeted towards podunk towns that have virtually no impact on the state’s economic well being. Instead, we fight over the gays and the blastocysts while Rome burns.

For those who don’t get it, it’s Mississippi with Pro-Sports and a big friggen Arch paid for out of the Great Society.

If Illinois wants a bridge (and it should) just build the damn thing and make Missouri licensed cars pay a toll.

Then fund a City/County secession effort and free us all. The Illinois National Guard can kick the Missouri National Guard’s butt if for no other reason than Missouri has an even crappier educational system in the rural areas.

HPV Vaccine Approved By FDA, but….

There may be opposition at the Centers for Disease Control to actually recommending it because of religious conservatives concern about people having sex.

You can find directions to submit your written comments at Feministing’s link above.

Make no mistake about it, this is another form of attack on women controlling their bodies combined with a nice attack on realistic health education. You can see it in the Pharmacists for Life’s attacks on the Governor and you can see it in trying to deny people access to effective vaccinations because it has something to do with sex.

Dr. Finger is the guy who suggested an HIV vaccine might be a bad idea because it might encourage sex.

Or save lives. Which is more important?

Nevermind….

Speaking of Ignoring the Infrastructure

Rick has some points about the state of the Illinois Democratic Party in helping recruit candidates broadly.

And as Rich points out, the web site is a miserable failure.

From Marin:

Giannoulias, 30, is the guy the party didn’t endorse but who won the March 21 primary anyway. And unless Illinois Dems are just awfully slow in updating their Web site, his absence suggests the continuing antagonism that arose from his candidacy. The chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party, House Speaker Michael Madigan, backed Knox County State’s Attorney Paul Mangieri instead.

“Unless the Illinois Dems are just awfully slwo in updating their website”

I’m actually quite happy they update the events section, but most of the site hasn’t changed in months. Nothing new since March at least and for some time I don’t think Obama or Bean were listed–like until later 2005.

I’m not sure Alexi is getting thrown under the bus, but the general expectation is he fell down in front of it and why bother at this point.

Speaking of which, perhaps we should have a pool as to whether Dan Hynes’ site will be operational by election day.
