		<description>I&#039;ve often wondered why, with the storied history of Chicago journalism, our papers suck so badly today, and let our governments get away with so much.

Today, it all comes together through the person of Gov. Thompson, who got away as merely  a patsy when former Sun-Times owner Conrad Black was convicted.  

Well, Blagojevich&#039;s indictment is for offering Sam Zell $100 million of Thompson&#039;s money at the Sports Facilities Authority in return for Trib Editor John McCormick&#039;s head!  

Blagojevich is gone!  Zell won&#039;t be prosecuted, because the timing of the Senate announcement meant that Fitzgerald couldn&#039;t wait long enough to see if Zell actually moved on this.  And Thompson is merely the eminence gris, but it&#039;s clear he knows a hell of a lot about suborning newspaper owners.  Wow! Just fucking wow!</description>
