   Do you think that by his action McCain has actually made the situation worse. I mean we have an economic problem. It is very serious. But must everything stop until this crisis is resolved. Doesn’t that just make it seem even worse in the eyes of the average person?

   If anyone was taking him seriously–yes. That and his VP candidate talking about the Great Depression blythely.

   I seem to remember Bush and Cheney complaining about people talking down the economy in 2001.

   A. What incentive do the Democrats have now to get this done?

   B. When the “Everything is great, don’t worry” Bush Administration starts talking about “crisis” watch out – you know they are trying to pull something over on us.

   Like Dole but somehow sadly funnier… if only because the Tubes lets us in on just how rancid the McCainiac Kool Aid apparently is.

   GL, If it’s a “crisis”, why has the Bush Administration been working on this dictatorial-like “bailout” of the wealthy CEOs for several months… and why did Paulson’s team admit they literally plucked $700 million out of thin air because it sounded good?

   It ain’t a crisis. It’s a Bamboozle with a capital B.

   Wow, I remember that–it was a long time ago, but this is an excellent point. Dole gave up his senate position as some sort of sacrifice to the political gods, but it didn’t work. He just looked like a loser.
