I’m Surprised
After sharing a lively discussion with four other area bloggers before a crowd of 200 plus at the request of WTTW host Phil Ponce, in concluding thoughts your IR Editor proposed the five of us panelists — CapitolFax’s Rich Miller, DailyKos’ Georgia Logothetis, RealClearPolitic’s Blake Dvorak, Chicago Tribune’s Eric Zorn and I — should consider collaborating our radically different perspectives online. Such an effort would put Illinois out in front nationally in the new media

I’m not. She’s always been affable (well, maybe not “always” … Debbie Does … dripping fangs … black churches are separatists).
…It’d give her another soapbox to shout from and putting her in with the likes of Zorn, etc lends a patina of credibility and a scent of legitimacy to her radical ideas and harsh, often hateful rhetoric. She’s entitled to her opinions, of course, but given how often she wilts when other folks point out her ridiculousness I don’t see an effort like this lasting long, if at all.
Perhaps such sudden willingness to get chummy is a symptom of a growing sense that conservatism (as it has been hijacked by the John Birch types) is hitting a nadir with American society after having flown so high for a few decades.

I think the R’s would be best served if it was someone who didn’t allow dave diersen posting privileges, but that’s me. If they have nobody else, so be it.

Rich Miller allows Dave Diersen postings at Illinoize… And it would seem to me his original idea for Illinoize is about what Ms. Eaton describes; tho’ perhaps not.
Besides Tom, not everyone can stay awake for the late show comedians. Some of us need those laughs early in the morning too.

I honestly don’t remember Fran floating this proposal. I think there’s merit to the idea of making guest appearances in other blogs for debate/discussions that float above the comment fray….I had Jill Stanek over to share a cup of bile a few years ago and would be be glad to host or participate in more such cross-ideological chats as time and my editors permitted.
