Sarah Palin Nomination Death Watch Day 1

September 01, 2008 By: ArchPundit Category: Uncategorized

The sheer number of disasters coming out in 72 hours while the press was distracted with a hurricane pretty much tells me we have an Eagleton situation.

So let it begin.  Day 1.

This is McCain we’re talking about, shouldn’t it be “Sarah Palin Nomination Divorce Watch Day 1″?

She pretty much has to survive this week right? She’s likely to make it to Wednesday where she’ll give her acceptance speech. She came into the week quite popular with the base, meaning she’s probably got pretty good support with the delegates currently in the twin cities. So they’re not going to step all over their convention message (that’s already been eaten alive by that crazy Italian hurricane), but she’s just going to keep bearing the brunt of the feeding frenzy.

I’m guessing they give her a sink or swim opportunity on one of the Sunday shows this weekend, maybe they can put it off another week but I doubt it. I actually feel sorry for her, she’s in over her head and I honestly wish she would have just had the good sense to decline the offer.

I’m having to agree with this week not being the end–two more hurricanes following Gustav makes everyone sit on their hands and blame the weather for all of the problems.

There has to be a disastrous week on her own so McCain can at least get some of the religious right to not outright revolt.

TM laments, “she’s in over her head and I honestly wish she would have just had the good sense to decline the offer.”

…Mayor of a town of 8,500 people two years ago to beating an incumbent governor in a primary to winning the seat in the general…

And the conservatives claim Obama is cocky and ‘just an empty suit celebrity’? By all accounts she’s a nice person and very personable, but like so much of the mystique and mythology surrounding hard-line conservativedom, hers may be a house of cards ready to tumble.

Arch writes, “There has to be a disastrous week on her own so McCain can at least get some of the religious right to not outright revolt.”

From what I’m seeing/hearing in typically non-political circles there’s a whole lotta IOKIYAR Kool-Aid being passed around wrt Gov. Palin.

I think McCain’s going to stick it out come hell or highwater. She may not’ve been his first choice but he did ultimately go with her and nothing in his record (to me at least) indicates he’d simply drop someone on a dime after such a public decision.

(His flip-flops tend to come when he thinks no one’s paying attention.)

VP’s are like wives, you never get the first one right. I bet McCain’s already courting his next one.

Palin would have to be disfigured from a car accident and then get fat to boot.

    That’s just mean. Really.

    …Say, where’d OneMan go?

And I wonder how many excuses Ruberry, Hickey and all the others drooling over her will make for their new girlfriend before they just give up.

You Girls enjoy yourselves playing the penny slots. Now, try not to put a mortgage payment or a kidney transplant down on this one.

The trouble, Ladies, happens to be that Camp Obama will strike tents soon.

This was a game changer. Obama, lovely gent that he is, will be luky to carry Illinois.

Vermont is safe as the Maple Syrup lobby has an armlock on the whole State – they play rough.

    Enjoy the slots,Girls!

Apparently I’m a total GOP shill because I was originally predicting that palin was going to be unanimously recognized as a mistake by the end of the month! Now it looks like 2 weeks!

Pat, Go back to making lewd comments about your guy’s veep pick, I’m sure it’s very helpful to bringing in new McCain voters…

If McCain had to pick someone like Palin just to shore up his base (and maybe help keep Alaska in the red column), then you can run around making all the junior high comments you want.

    Yes, Ma’am.

I wonder how well Patricia here knows Petey… and how often they do research together, not that there’s anything wrong with that. ;)

Gamechanger indeed. Like scoring touchback after touchback for your opponent — during the division playoff.

We shall see what the debates hold, and who Sen. Biden will be debating against.
