Illinois NOW Needs Some Help Finding Their Asses with Two Hands

February 02, 2008 By: ArchPundit Category: Obama, Presidential Race

Below Gay Bruhn argues that Obama abandoned the pro-choice community by voting present. I then asked her why the endorsed Lisa Madigan:

===By reacting so emotionally you missed the real message: that when the time came to vote Obama took a pass. He did not vote as he promised us he would. That’s it. We needed him — he wasn’t there.

So why did you endorse Lisa Madigan?

gbruhn Says:

She didn’t use this strategy on these bills.

gbruhn Says:

Attorney General Madigan voted no on the bills in question. To my knowledge she has never used this strategy.

It’s Not Just ‘Ayes’ and ‘Nays’: Obama’s Votes in Illinois Echo

Lisa Madigan, the Illinois attorney general who was in the Illinois Senate with Mr. Obama from 1998 through 2002, said she and Mr. Obama voted present on the anti-abortion bills.

‘’It’s just plain wrong to imply that voting present reflected a lack of leadership,’’ Ms. Madigan said. ‘’In fact, it was the exact opposite.’’

We must be looking at different lists. I was looking at the record. I was there.

Sorry — That’s not record for the bills we are questioning. Look up SB1094, SB1095, and SB1096 also known as the born alive bills.

Hey, gbruhn, this is funny. When one uses the word NEVER to try and justify one’s arguments, it means just that – never. One can’t subsequently qualify NEVER to mean something else. Well actually, one can (and you did), but then their credibility drops dramatically.

Yes, from reading these threads it does look as if you are playing a game of pick-and-choose. Or perhaps you need to correct the New York Times and the Associated Press.

Thank you for your help in this matter. It’s been informative and I appreciate the opportunity to gain an understanding of your position.

I think Ms. Bruhn better give up before she digs herself even deeper.

    gbruhn,

    Help in this matter?????

Let’s see if I clearly understand your position. Obama gets a slap for voting “present.” Madigan gets your praise for taking the same position?

You and ArchPundit are looking at “different lists?” Do you have a magic NEVER list unavailable to the media?

Or is your definition of NEVER the same one someone else once used for the word IS?

Help? I don’t think so. Informative? Yes. I have no “position” in your little debate with ArchPundit. I’m just trying to understand your definition of NEVER in your attempt to justify treating Obama and Madigan differently, and look forward to your response.

Illinois NOW apparently still hasn’t gotten over the defeat of Blair Hull, champion of women.

    That’s just embarrassing.
