Breaking…
AP to break story soon.
UPDATED: OK, I think I can say it’s going to take a while for anything to develop. Not a false alarm necessarily, but there is more work going on behind the scenes than I thought.

Define “soon”.
October 19th, 2006 at
bring it!
October 19th, 2006 at
What is posting on the AP soon?
Please be more specific!
October 19th, 2006 at
Trandahl, my man!
October 19th, 2006 at
Denny Hastert is gonna have to do the Sgt. Schultz routine, eh?
And what did John Shimkus know about Congressman X and the page?
October 19th, 2006 at
Soon–depending upon what it takes to get final comments.
Look down at the earlier story for the basic outline, but the story itself is quiet until it breaks.
October 19th, 2006 at
I hear the details are particularly nasty. Like really really nasty as in the feller (does that rhyme?) is a really really bad guy.
October 19th, 2006 at
Anyone else notice his campaign website doesn’t work….
How convenient
October 19th, 2006 at
LOL ponti.
October 19th, 2006 at
what the hell, is the next headline gonna be “Illinois congressional sex ring exposed.”??
October 19th, 2006 at
Wonkette has a teaser up. If there’s anything actually illegal in play here, perhaps this particular Congressman could offer up his father-in-law in a plea…

I hate to burst your bubbles, but xxxxx’s campaign site is still up and running. I just went there.
Take a breath. A deep breath.
October 19th, 2006 at
Um, with all due respect, if you have real news post it, if you don’t, say nothing. Rumor mongering is wasting everyone’s time.
October 19th, 2006 at
Will Miller be permanently banned for mentioning the name of the alleged abuser?
October 19th, 2006 at
Dude, it’s a lot easier over here to control my comments–Rich has my complete sympathy–he only commented before I deleted a reference so no harm.
October 19th, 2006 at
Archpundit:
Of course I was joking with the last post. For dealing with the B.S. he gets on his own site I deserves a free pass on anybody else’s.
October 19th, 2006 at
And I’m not mad at anyone, I’ve just decided to keep overt references out until the actual story is released. So if I deleted your comment, there are plenty of ways of saying something without being overt.
October 19th, 2006 at
Skeeter–I made the same joke to him actually–so it’s cool–I just know what a hassle it is for him.
October 19th, 2006 at
Are you definately sure this is happening today, or will it be tomorrow perhaps?
This individual’s name has gotten out to several hundred thousand people or so by now. If they have the goods, they might as well release it.

Correction:
“Archpundit: Of course I was joking with the last post. For dealing with the B.S. he gets on his own site I THINK HE deserves a free pass on anybody else’s. Posted by: Skeeter on Thursday October 19, 2006.”
I need to edit my own work better.
October 19th, 2006 at
LOL, Skeeter. Sorry, Larry. I saw someone else mention THE NAME THAT SHALL NOT BE UTTERED and figured it was open season over here. Either way, the rumors are now completely, totally out of hand and being fueled by idiots, which is all I was trying to point out.
October 19th, 2006 at
>>LOL, Skeeter. Sorry, Larry. I saw someone else mention THE NAME THAT SHALL NOT BE UTTERED and figured it was open season over here.
It’s Voldemort’s fault?

===Are you definately sure this is happening today, or will it be tomorrow perhaps?
I think the 48 hour window from last night is probably the best bet–but there were rumors about which news organizations were going with it last night. I know that AP has the story and is gathering comments. When they release–I can’t confirm that until they do. My guess is sooner than the 48 hour window, but I am not in control of when they go to press.
I know it’s a bit frustrating for everyone, but I do have good information that the story is in play which I’m wiling to say, but without direct sources to the events, I’m only reporting on the reporting for now.
And no problem Rich–I was literally deleting a comment as you posted so I understand and got quite a laugh out of it.

Anyone have any quotes ready by “so and so” on the Foley matter?
October 19th, 2006 at
Yes, Adrian. It’s all in the can.
And I know other sites have it up–I’m waiting on someone with direct information on sources tied to the events.
October 19th, 2006 at
Dumb question but, does AP here stand for “Associated Press” or “ArchPundit”?
October 19th, 2006 at
“tied to the events” lol
October 19th, 2006 at
> I hate to burst your bubbles, but xxxxx’s campaign site is still up and running. I just went there. Take a breath. A deep breath.
Sure looks down to me. But maybe it could just be pounded with traffic? (His congressional site is up.)
October 19th, 2006 at
Well, then. It seems we all what’s going to happen, and who is involved. Is someone cache-ing his entire website for ironic snark afterwards?
October 19th, 2006 at
Ummm…good question–associated press
October 19th, 2006 at
> Anyone have any quotes ready by “so and so” on the Foley matter?
Not quite the same, but Wonkette just posted a screenshot of an ABC story featuring a photo of so-and-so standing behind Foley at a press conference.
October 19th, 2006 at
“[fullname].com” is not working and I’m not sure it ever did this cycle.
“[lastname]4congress.com” is working and appears up to date.
politics1.com looks like it has the wrong listing for the person’s campaign site.
October 19th, 2006 at
I just wanna that you Arch for keeping a clean ship here! I’m new here and I have to say that I like the way you are running things. Frustrating a bit that you won’t spill the beans yet, but completely understand and agree…. kudoos
October 19th, 2006 at
wanna thank, not wanna that !
October 19th, 2006 at
While keeping an eye on the Illinois AP wire the only new news is that Mike Brown is officially out for the season.
Damnit
October 19th, 2006 at
“soon”? did you get that from jason leopold?
i’m just saying…

This is probably separate, but I think Foleygate is just getting warmed up.
October 19th, 2006 at
Wow, he who will not be named has at the top of his page the following “Working HARD, Making a DIFFERENCE.”
October 19th, 2006 at
It is even better, if you read so and so’s bio on his website. He is another one of those child predator/internet protection act ‘sponsors!’ Oh, and his father-in-law is a former Central American dictator! I doubt Papi will be happy to see his little girl dragged into a scandal….
October 19th, 2006 at
Ooooooof, on the update. Just don’t tell us when you said 48 hours you really meant 48 BUSINESS hours.
October 19th, 2006 at
48 hours from last night is still the likely scenario from what I understand–that said, read Rich’s site for the only complete take on what has been happening.
October 19th, 2006 at
If this is what I think it is, it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. But if I were him, I’d be afraid of his wife…
October 19th, 2006 at
This silliness of winks and nods then censorship of certain names being mentioned, then the whole thing being a false rumor that everyone was blowing smoke on … ridiculous.
October 20th, 2006 at
Are IL Dems still getting their troops ready to hit the ground when this story does break?
