How Does One Reconcile
Criticism of Bush’s reckless budgets and supporting Blagojevich’s attempt at reckless budgets?
I generally like Jones, but as Howard Dean has said, you can’t have social justice without balanced budgets because if you spend too much now, you have to cut later.

More weird:
I am not making this up, Orion Samelson is on WGN-AM and says that the IL-GOP has approached him to run for the Senate seat.
He is not gonna take it for all the usual reasons, family, health, etc.

Wrong!
He says he is going to consider it!

Excuse my ignorance, but who is Orion Samelson?

Jones’ comments about Madigan were way out of line. I expect legislators — be they Dem or GOP — to work with each other when they can, and debate their differences when they disagree. Madigan was right that the two Blagojevich budgets we’ve seen so far do not address the structural deficit, and relied on gimmicks to be balanced. Btw, it seems to me that Madigan got more concessions from Cross/Watson in the budget than he gave.
I want to like Jones, really I do. But his statements and behavior in the budget battle make it hard.

Who’s next? Max Armstrong? With that noon farm report heading the way of the dinosaur, those two have some free time on their hands.
Orion might give Obama a run for his money if the debates were about pork bellies being down one and a quarter.

Orion would have been an interesting choice, he has a cool voice at least.

Bagojevich is the reason I’ve stopped attending Democratic party meetings. I’ve told my county chairman that I will stay away as long as he says nice things about that idiot, since I would say something rude in response. I’ll vote for whoever runs against him, even if it’s George Ryan.
BTW, to answer Jennifer in Chicago’s question, Orion Samuelson is WGN’s agri-biz reporter.

In Michael’s comments I am reminded when we had our state central committeeman at one of our meetings back when George was governor who asked for a round of applause for our governor and almost no-one clapped.

What would it take to get Paul Valis to come back and run against Blago in the primary?
July 30th, 2004 at
Or get Valis to run as the Republican Senate Candidate?
