On Steve Dahl today Buzz Kilman metioned something about Ray Hanania and Miriam Santos that Dahl bleeped out. Before my time but I did find on his website an article from the trib circa ‘92:

“Hanania, 39, who was forced to resign from the Sun-Times over his friendship with Chicago City Treasurer Miriam Santos,”

Anything else to it or just the usual sordid tale?

I think it was pretty garden variety–but someone else may have more.

I’ll start out with this: I interviewed for a job with the abortive Santos for Attorney General campaign. I think Santos got steamrolled. Fundamentally, Miriam Santos seemed to me to be a tough lady who was a little too good at building enemies and not good enough at dealing with them.

I seem to remember at the time there was a bit more than a “friendship.” As all people under federal indictment in Chicago, Miriam Santos became a dangerous person to be close to.
